Review: Prema Ishq Kadhal-Decent Love Entertainer

Movie: Prema Ishq Kadhal

Tollynagar.com Rating: 3/5
Cast: Harshavardhan Rane , Vishnu , Harish Varma , Ritu Varma , Vithika Sheru , Srimukhi
Directed by : Pavan Sadineni
Produced by : B. Venu Gopal
Banner :Lucky Media
Music by : Shravan
Release Date : 2013-12-06
Prema Ishq Kadhal directed by debutante Pavan Sadineni has three pairs in the lead roles. This film is out in theaters now.

What is it about?
This film is about love life of three pairs. Raju (Vishnu) - Sameera (Ritu), Randhir (Harshavardhan Rane) - Sarayu (Vithika), Arjun (Harish) - Shanti (Srimukhi) are the three pairs who go through different situations and face similar fate. As the title suggests this film is about 'love' and director believes that one of this could be our story.

Performances:

Harshavardhan Rane has done a couple of films and he is not an alien to the cameras. The confidence can be seen in his portrayal of his character. Vishnu is at ease playing an easy going Raju. Harish is alright as the crooked minded lover. Ritu Varma steals the show among the female leads. She is supremely confident and very pleasing on eyes. Vithika is not up to the mark and Srimukhi managed to pull it off somehow. There is not much to talk about other characters. Rajesh's character was supposed to be funny, but it didn't turn out as expected.

Technicalities:
Pavan Sadineni handled the film like an ace director. He knows the art of filmmaking and he made a clean and quality film which is high on technical front. However he didn't put much into the writing and that has let this film down. A strong script could have done wonders to PIK. Music by Shravan is splendid. All the songs are very impressive. Music takes the cake and cinematography is equally good. Quality technical output for a low budget film is very rare in Tollywood. PIK team can hold their heads high with this output.

Analysis:
Although PIK teams good points on the technical front it lost many due to lackluster script. The director is known for making short films and maybe he didn't put much effort into this feature film. None of the characters really appeal to you and you cannot identify yourself in any of them.

Characters are poorly etched as well as the love stories. None of the love stories are strong enough to involve you emotionally. You will not feel a pinch when all the stories end on a rough note. Director failed to get the transformation right towards the end. However, second half is far better than the first half and has some good moments.

PIK has good music, attractive visuals and able star cast. Besides that it fails to hold the attention of audience due to lazy pacing and of poor script. This film is targeted at multiplex audiences and city youth. They may give it pass marks but this film could have achieved more if they got the script right. Watch it for its rocking soundtrack!

Verdict: Prema Ishq Kadhal - A Decent Love Entertainer.

Review:Doosukeltha -Paisa Vasool Entertainer

Movie: Doosukeltha
Cast: Manchu Vishnu , Lavanya Tripathi ,Brahmanandam
Directed by : Veeru Potla
Produced by : M Mohan Babu
Banner :24 Frames Factory
Music by : Manisharma
Release Date : 2013-10-17
Tollynagar.net Rating : 3.25/5
Manchu Vishnu, who has scored two hits in his career so far, came up with yet another light hearted entertainer Doosukeltha. This film too follows the same path as Dhee and Denikaina Ready.

What is it about?
Chinna (Vishnu) falls for a girl named Alekhya (Lavanya), who is staying away from her father. There is a conspiracy against her from her own family members and Chinna finds a solution for it.

Performances:
Vishnu is in his elements. He did alright as the man with brains. He has done this before and there is nothing special or spectacular about his performance in this film. He has tried a new look and it is fine. Lavanaya, who was good in Andala Rakshasi, is not up to the mark in this film. Her performance is just okay. Brahmanandam offered few laughs and Vennela Kishore's character clicked at times. Kota Srinivasa Rao is standard. Rao Ramesh did well. Ali, Raghubabu, Master Bharat and others played their part.

Technicalities:
Mani Sharma's music is mediocre. None of the songs are good on ears. His background score is fine though. Cinematography is topnotch. Editing could have been crisper as the length of the film is over 160 minutes. There is nothing new about the story. Veeru Potla handled it well to make it a decent entertainer. First half runs at a smooth pace and story takes a turn at the interval point. From then on the director tried to make it a laugh riot. He has succeeded up to some extent in doing so.

Analysis:
Vishnu realized that comedy entertainers are his forte and he is not trying to do something away from it. He is staying away from mass masala movies and experiments at the moment. This is working in his favor as Doosukeltha too gets positive feedback from most of the viewers. There is nothing to whine about this film. It's a simple paisa vasool entertainer that took the safe route to succeed at the box office.

Comedy in the film is good and it will be liked by the classes. There is some action part for the liking of masses. Good songs and short runtime could have done wonders to this film. Despite the shortcomings, Doosukeltha will impress fun loving audience. Proper publicity will take this film to safe zone.

Second half has good family scenes as well as right amounts of comedy to keep the viewers entertained all the time. Director Veeru Potla who succeeded in giving a decent entertainer to Manchu Manoj with Bindas has once again repeated the feat with Vishnu. Doosukeltha is a timepass flick which you wouldn't regret to watch.

Verdict: Decent Comedy Entertainer.

Review : Attarintiki Daredi-Power Packed Family Entertainer!

Release date : 27 September 2013
Tollynagar.net Rating : 3.75/5
Director : Trivikram Srinivas
Producer : BVSN Prasad
Music Director : Devi Sri Prasad
Starring : Pawan Kalyan, Samantha, Pranitha
Attarintiki Daredi is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Despite the leaks and other hurdles, the film still managed to take a thumping opening at the ticket windows. Pawan Kalyan's star power and Trivikram's credibility along with successful music album helped the movie to take off to a wonderful start.

What is it about?
Gautam Nanda (Pawan Kalyan) is the only heir for 1 lakh crores worth property in Milan, Italy. His grandfather Raghunandan (Boman Irani) asks Gautham to unite him with his daughter (Nadhiya), who left him twenty five years ago. Gautham goes to India and enter into his aunt's house as a driver. How does he achieve his aim is the rest of the story.

Performances:
Pawan Kalyan is suave and stylish in this movie. He is at his handsome best in this movie and looked young in many frames. He underplayed his part well according to the requirements of the character. His teasing scenes with Samantha and comedic episodes with Ali and Brahmanandam are a treat to watch. His performance in the climax sequence is too good. Easily one of Pawan's finest performances. Samantha is cute as usual. She didn't get much footage in the first hour but has a nice role in the second hour. Praneetha is beautiful and she did her part well. Boman Irani is apt and Nadhiya is excellent in her role. Brahmanandam brings the house down in the second half. Ali is good. Rao Ramesh, Posani and others delivered decent performances.

Technicalities:
Music by Devi Sri Prasad is good. All the songs are good on screen. Bapu gari Bommo and Kirrakku takes the cake. Background score is impressive. Cinematography is top notch. Editing is alright. The film drags a bit here and there and that should have been trimmed down. Dialogues written by Trivikram are just about okay. This is not his best work on any scale. He makes it up a bit with impressive dialogues in the climax scenes, but on a whole Trivikram does pretty average job as dialogue writer. He handled the script well with his able direction. It is a pretty simple script which has enough elements to keep the fans entertained and impress the families as well. If you are expecting some Gabbar Singh kind of masala you might be disappointed a bit. This film is a clean family entertainer.

Analysis:
Attarintiki Daredi doesn't have a novel story. It is a simple story where the protagonist tries to unite his divided family. Trivikram made this film a complete package by using Pawan Kalyan's star power. When a superstar like Pawan Kalyan plays the lead role in a family entertainer, only sky is the limit if you get it right. Trivikram excelled in doing so. He made sure that the film has every element that pleases the magnanimous fan base of Pawan Kalyan and also used his special skills as an actor.

You can see Pawan Kalyan in his elements in this film. He completely owned the role of Gautham Nanda and gave his best to it. He enjoyed every scene and that vibrant performance brings extra kick to the proceedings. First half of the film is smooth with nice comedy and few action bits. The graph starts to go up from the interval point with episode after episode pushing the movie to unimaginable heights.

Although the film has sentiment backdrop, Trivikram never lets it go in to emotional mode. Climax scene is a testament for Trivikram's ability as writer and director. This film will be lapped up by families and they will watch it repeatedly. Except for the audience who crave for mass masala, Attarintiki Daredi will entertain everybody. Films like these are very rare to come and don't miss the opportunity to watch it on big screen. Go grab your tickets, now!

Verdict:  Power Packed Family Entertainer!                                                     -Reviewed by Bujji

All other comedians did well to their best in their limited roles.
Minus:
Few scenes here and there might feel to be dragged. Some of the comedy scenes are over dosed. Editing seems to have missed the Track overall. The narration of the movie is to slow, the rape scene look very vulgar in the movie.
Verdict:
Over all, the movie is O.K. to watch once without any expectations. A decent one to watch with a fresh mind. As everybody believes, that is the majaa of cinema. It should be seen in the way it is!! However the question arises, if this is worth watching? I should say yes it is!!

Review : Adda – One Time Watch

Release date : 15 August 2013
Tollynagar.net Rating : 2.75/5
Director : G.Karthik Reddy
Producer : Chintalapudi Srinivas, Akkineni Nagasuseela
Music Director : Anoop Rubens
Starring : Sushanth, Shanvi
Sushanth is testing his fortunes at the Box Office with the film ‘Adda’. The movie has been directed by G.Karthik Reddy and Shanvi is the heroine. Chintalapudi Srinivas and Akkineni Nagasuseela produced this film. The movie is crucial for Sushanth, as he has not had a big success in his career so far. Let us see if he has a chance with this movie.
Story :
Abhi (Sushanth) is a person who specializes in providing services for lovers as well as their parents. He has a special ability when it comes to creating rifts between lovers and his services are used by parents who are worried about the love lives of their kids. But when he wants to, he also helps lovers and gets them married. He charges a handsome fee for all this.
Priya (Shanvi) seeks the services of Abhi in order to disrupt her sister’s love life. She is worried about her father Patel (Nagineedu) and that is why she takes this step. Abhi helps Shanvi, but in the process, discovers that he has feelings for Priya.
But Priya is unable to reciprocate, as she feels Abhi is a guy without feelings and morals. She is also supposed to marry her bava (Dev Gill).
What happens in the end? Will Abhi succeed in winning Priya’s heart? That forms the story
Plus Points :
Sushant has improved a lot as an actor. He has good grace as a dancer. His costumes are quite stylish in the film. Shanvi looks very glamorous in the movie and she is a big asset for the film. Her costumes and skin show in songs will work in B and C centers.
Raghubabu entertains briefly. Jayaprakash Reddy makes a cameo appearance, but he manages to make people laugh with his typical slang and dialogue delivery. Dhanraj, Venu and Thagubothu Ramesh are ok.
There are some entertaining moments in the film, especially in the first 30 minutes or so after the interval. Some nice one liners will also work with youngsters and college students.
Some songs, like the one in the pub, have been shot well. A few songs have been shot in exotic foreign locales and they look quite grand on screen.
Shwetha Bharadwaj sizzles in her item number.
Minus Points :
The pre-climax episode and the climax sequences are irritating. They seem to go on and on forever. Because there is no depth in the plot, some of the scenes appear quite stale and cliched.
The director should have taken better care about the screenplay. The graph of the film keeps dipping at many places. The characterization of the hero should have been more comprehensive. The romantic track lacks chemistry.
Some good artists like Kota Srinivasa Rao, Tanikella Bharani and Nagineedu have been given very insignificant roles.
Technical Aspects :
Cinematographer Arun Kumar deserves special mention for his work. Visuals are rich and quite grand for a film of this budget. Anoop Rubens has come up with very good background music and his work is a big asset for the film. Editing is not up to the mark, especially in the second half.
Director Karthik Reddy has done a very ok job with this film. Better screenplay would have significantly helped the movie.
Verdict :
Compared to some of Sushant’s past films, ‘Adda’ is definitely a big improvement. The film has some nice moments but it is let down by a bad climax and slow pace towards the end. Overall, Adda ends up as an ok watch.

Review:Anna-A Huge Disappointment

Cast: Vijay, Satyaraj, Amala Paul, Santhanam
Directed by : Vijay
Produced by : G. Kasi Viswanadham
Banner : 3K entertainments
Music : GV Prakash
Release Date : 2013-08-09
Tollynagar.net Rating: 2/5

Tamil hero Vijay's latest movie Thalaivaa has been dubbed in to Telugu as Anna. This movie is out in theaters now.
What is it about?
Viswa (Vijay), who is a dancer as well as a businessman in Australia, is the son of Rammurthy (Satya Raj), well known as Anna in Mumbai. Viswa doesn't know anything about his father as the latter wanted him to stay away from India. But one fine day Viswa comes to know about his dad because of Meera (Amala Paul). Viswa's life goes upside down after that and within no time he lands in the shoes of his dad.

Performances :
Vijay is neat as the lead. He gave a controlled performance as Anna. He is flexible as Viswa. This role will be liked by his fans. Amala Paul is fine as the female lead. She got an author backed role and she fits the bill. This is her big ticket film in Tamil and she does justice to it. Santhanam is as hilarious as ever. Satya Raj is confident and Suresh is competent. All others did well.

Technicalities :

Star cast has done well in this movie, but surprisingly technical crew falls short of expectations. There are few big names in the technical team, but Anna is not a product of their standards. Nirav Shah's cinematography is average. Editing is not up to the mark. Music by GV Prakash is a total let down. His background score is alright though. Direction by Vijay goes haywire after the interval scene. He conceived few good scenes which are impressive. But he failed to execute and establish the plot in a proper manner. Second half drags on and on without no good reason.

Analysis :

Anna has a familiar premise, which can be made into a powerful mass film. However, the director failed to execute it well. First half is completely dedicated to the love track between Vijay and Amala. There are few funny episodes that puts a smile on your face. Sam Anderson's episode will click well with Tamil audience. Santhanam's one liners will work with Telugu audience too.

Few scenes are brilliantly done. Bringing Vijay to Satya Raj from airport is a fine example for good direction. Director gives a nice twist during pre interval and it works well. Interval point rises hopes on the film. Second half is a let down due to bad screenplay and pointless scenes. There is not one scene where the hero confronts villain and the much needed hero elevation goes missing.

The film's length is about three hours. There is so much lag between the scenes (which should have edited out) that would test the patience of audience. This movie should be better with a remote in hand and finger on the Fast Forward button. Vijay's diehard fans may like it, but for others Anna is a disappointment. The dubbing rights holders may enter safe zone due to low costs and good season without competition from Telugu films.

Verdict :  Slow paced and too long!

Review:Romance-No Romance only Vulgarity

Cast: Prince, Dimple, Manasa, Sai Kumar pampana and Others
Directed by : 'Darling' Swamy
Produced by : Srinivas Rao, SKN
Banner : Maruti Media House
Music : Sai Karthik
Release Date : 2013-08-02
Tollynagar.Net Rating:2/5
Maruthi has created a separate brand of films from regular genres and has been delivering good hits with shoestring budget. This is yet another adult comedy from Maruthi's production house and writer Darling Swamy turned director with this film. Here is Romance review...

What is it about?

Krishna (Prince) is a college student who wants to experience first love. He chooses two girls (Manasa and Dimple) and tries to find who is the best among the two. When he falls in love with one of them, the other one comes and alleges that he had made love to her. This hurts the other girl and she breaks up with him. Now Krishna has to prove his innocence and win back his lost love.

Performances :

Prince is alright as the lead. However, he is being typecast in such roles. He is choosing roles that suits his age and image, but he needs to take care about the choice of characters. He did an okay job as an actor. Manasa is not up to the mark. She needs to work on her expressions. She failed to give right expressions in key scenes. Dimple made a fine debut. She has potential. Sai Kumar Pampana, who did similar characters in Ee Rojullo and Bus Stop repeats himself. It is high time for him to break the monotony. Remaining actors did their bit. Most of the Female actors who are seen in hostel scenes are awful.

Technicalities :

Swamy has written dialogues for films like Darling and Happy. Swamy had impressed actor Prabhas so much that the latter suggested his name as dialogue writer for Rebel. Despite having a good track record as writer Swamy opted to make his directorial debut with an A rated comedy. He penned the script himself which is very weak in every aspect. He needs to work on the narrative skills. There is no continuity in many scenes. There is nil attention to detail. That shows how dedicated and attentive the director was!

Analysis :

Romance is one of the horrible films to hit the Telugu screen in recent times. It gives a torrid time to the viewers from scene 1. We expect the film to pick up pace and get better as it progresses. But things get even painful as it moves ahead. This film is made with a sole aim to make quick bucks by targeting the young audience who cherish watching adult rated jokes and soft porn scenes. Director tried to make his film as filthy as he can and filled it with tons of vulgarity.

The director sincerely felt that this film is about pure love and the hero breaks into tears in one scene before climax and explains the true pain of love. However, that looked completely out of place and stupid, because this movie is about lust and not love. Who on the earth would try to find his girl is virgin or not to love her? And which girl would put her lover to test by pitting him amidst a sea of girls. Romance is a film which wouldn't impress the audience who look for cheap jokes and yearn for vulgarity.

Except for the interval bang, there is absolutely nothing in this film and the second half of sheer torture. The hostel scenes will suffocate you and make you run for your life. Maruthi failed to judge this script and this is definitely a film that he and his team want to forget as early as they can. Watch it if you want to test your patience.

Verdict :  Awful Romance!

Review:OM-Revenge Action Drama

Cast: Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, Kriti Kharbhanda, Nikesha Patel, Karthik, Sitara
TOLLYNAGAR RATING:2.75/5
Directed by : Sunil Reddy
Produced by : Kalyan Ram
Banner : NTR Arts
Music : Achu Rajamani
Release Date : 2013-07-19
Nandamuri Kalyan Ram who has Atanokkade to his credit has been due for a hit since very long time. Out of desperation he has made Om in 3D format for which he has invested more than Rs. 25 crore. Did he get the desired result?

What is it about?

Arjun (Kalyan Ram) is very fond of his dad (Karthik), who has many enemies. Arjun's dad's enemies plots to kill him and Arjun safeguards him all the time. But Arjun doesn't know that he is being used as a puppet against his own people. When he comes to know about the truth he loses his people and he avenges their death. How does he gets his revenge forms rest of the story.

Performances :
Kalyan Ram did a fine job as the main lead. Although there is a bit of hamming at times, he pulls off his role on a whole. He tonsured his head for this role and that is a sign of dedication. Very few actors can take such risks. Kriti Karbhanda got an effective role and she is okay on the performance front. Looks wise she has easily dominated other female lead Nikesha Patel, who did a decent job as an actress. Veteran actor Karthik goes over board at times. Rao Ramesh is okay with his Srikakulam accent. Suresh, Sampath and others played the supporting roles.

Technicalities :
Dialogues are not up to the mark. Most of the punch lines are just rehash from old movie dialogues. There are not many songs in the film. Background score is good. Cinematography is to notch. Framing and shot division stands out. 3D effects are very nice in few action scenes. Holi song is too good in 3D. Producer has to be lauded for making a quality film. However, director has let him down with lackluster script. Screenplay is pretty bad and director failed to excel on the script side. He has good command over technical aspects, but didn't get his basics right to make it a perfect film.

Analysis :
Om is a regular revenge action drama with loads of fights. There are many twists thrown in to make it an interesting film. But the screenplay is very poor that it hardly draws the attention of audience. Scenes and dialogues are badly written and things only get worse as the story moves ahead. First half of the film is pointless and never goes ahead as there is nothing happening on screen.

Director relied heavily on the twists that comes in the latter half of the film and didn't make an attempt to make things interesting until that point. The main twist works up to some extent, but by then audience get exhausted with lethargic screenplay. There is absolutely nothing on entertainment front. There is neither thrill nor comedy for the viewers to get along.

Despite keeping the film to less than two hours, Om fails to keep the audience interested at any point. Climax is a big letdown and Karthik's performance made it even worse. Om has good technical values and few laudable 3D effects. Other than that this film is a total let down and one has to feel sorry for Kalyan Ram who has given his heart to this film. Director has to be blamed for such a badly made movie.

Verdict :  Om - A huge disappointment

Review:Sahasam-A Technical Brilliance

Directed by : Chandrasekhar yeleti
Cast: Gopichand, Tapsee, Shakti Kapoor, Ali and others
Produced by : BVSN Prasad
Banner : Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra
Music : Sri
Release Date : 2013-07-12
TOLLYNAGAR RATING :3/5
Director Chandrasekhar Yeleti has made a name for himself with different type of films. His latest movie Sahasam is an action adventure set in Pakistan backdrop. Gopichand who has done Okkadunndadu with this director played the lead in this film. Did the duo deliver goods this time?

What is it about?

Gautham (Gopichand) is a security guard who dreams of having a bright and rich future. One day he gets to know that his grandfather had so much wealth and that has been struck in some place in Pakistan. Now Gautham goes to Pakistan to find that riches. But that is not as easy as it seems as he had to deal with terrorists in that country. Rest of the story is about how Gautham finds that wealth.

Performances :
Gopichand is very good as the lead. He has given a good performance in the introductory scenes. His action hero image comes handy in the second hour. Taapsee has come up with fine performance. Director makes sure to make her underplay her role, which is a welcome change. Shakti Kapoor is believable as the terrorist leader. He did well. Ali is okay and Suman had a brief role to play. Narayana Rao is seen on screen after a longtime. He did alright.

Technicalities :
Dialogues are fine. Music is not so great. Sri's background score is good in parts. Songs are absolutely not needed in this movie. There are only three songs and that too seems like speed breakers. Cinematography is good and one of the major plus points of this film. Art director Ramakrishna has done a fabulous job in creating the ambiance of Pakistan. Producers have spent so much money and that can be seen on screen. Director Chandrasekhar Yeleti has proved that he is not game for routine movies yet again. Sahasam is a different movie altogether when compared to other commercial potboilers. His direction is not up to the mark though. There are many scenes which demands the brilliance of director, but somehow Yeleti didn't deliver the goods. This will certainly not rank amongst his best works.

Analysis :
Sahasam is an action adventurous flick which shows lot of promise at the start. However, the film's slow pace and not so thrilling screenplay makes it an average fare. Had the director put some extra efforts in dealing with the actions sequences, it would have been one of its kind experiences. Sahasam has its share of positives, but falls short of expectations on a whole.

First half of the film is alright with some entertainment. Most of the scenes looked forced and out of place. We get a feeling that this is some kind of fantasy at times. Despite the drawbacks, Sahasam seems decent due to good technical values. Cinematography and art work are brilliant. Second half of the film have some thrilling scenes, which are not dealt properly. Logic goes for a toss at many instances. Much hyped Bhuzkasi episode failed to make an impact.

Sahasam doesn't have the elements to please the mass audiences. It's fate will depend on A center audiences who cherish to watch adventurous flicks. Except for some thrilling moments in the climax and technical values, Sahasam fails to leave a mark. It is not a must watch film but can be watched once for its different theme and great production design.

Verdict :  Sahasam - Technically sound Movie
