Star hero as villain in Mani Ratnam’s movie

 

Arjun is often referred to as the action king, ever since he started his film career at the age of 19. Today he’s still going strong as a hero. True to his title of action king, the actor has taken a daring step and agreed to play a compelling antagonist in maverick filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s next, which has the working title, Pookadai.
Sources revealed that unlike Arjun’s role in the recent Ajith starrer Mankatha where the grey shades of his character are revealed only towards the climax, here in Mani’s flick he has a powerful negative role with an all-new, surprising look. According to an insider, there are only five major characters in the film.
The movie stars Gautham, son of veteran actor Karthik as the male lead, while his female costar hasn’t been finalised yet. Rajeev Menon will be behind the camera with Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman scoring the music. The movie is expected to be a romantic story set against the backdrop of Rameswaram fishermen.
