In Talk: Nandamuri Hero's 3D woes

It is known that Kalyan Ram's upcoming film 'OM' has been made with a budget of over Rs 25 crore which include Rs 13 crore spent for the 3D effect of this action entertainer. Now the makers are in doldrums as most of the exhibitors in the state have been opposing the process of upgrading the theatres to screen 3D films fearing exorbitant cost.

According to the sources, Andhra Pradesh has only around 40 screens at present that are suitable for projection of 3D movies. Exhibitors aren't keen on 3D conversion as the process costs Rs 24 lakhs per theatre. Right from painting the screen with silver paint to installing dual projectors to working on acoustics to the cost of 3D glasses to it's maintenance, the entire thing requires a lot of effort and money too.

However, Kalyanram is determined to get 100 theatres which are 3D enabled for 'OM' to recover the huge investment. The actor is in talks with exhibitors for the same and more than the final result of the film, it's the less number of 3D screens that's worrying our Nandamuri hero the most.

The woes of producer-turned-director Anil Sunkara who is making his directorial debut with 'Action 3D' are no different. However, director Gunasekhar is confident that the number of 3D screens in state will increase to at least 100 by the time his prestigious film 'Rudrama Devi' gears up for release next year as none could stop technological advancement.
